Presidents’ Day is on Monday, February 18! Here are a few activities and online resources to help you liven up your holiday and give your nieces and nephews a little lesson in American presidential history!
 
Presidents’ Day Crafts and Activities
 
-Decorate the entire interior of your house in red, white, and blue! Invite your nieces and nephews over for the afternoon, and let them have fun putting up the balloons and streamers.

-Create paper flags with red, white, and blue construction paper and place them around the house as part of the presidential theme.

-Use red and blue napkins and white paper plates to serve snacks.

-Construct small log cabins out of pretzels and graham crackers and start a discussion on the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. (You can use either peanut butter or Nutella to hold the structures together.)

-Make tall top hats out of poster paper and continue discussing Lincoln’s contributions to the history of the United States, during his presidency and the Civil War.

-Create your own powdered wigs with cotton balls and old baseball caps. Using white craft glue, help your nieces and nephews cover the cap in cotton balls while teaching them about the first president, George Washington. (Use the visors as wig tails and add a black bow to complete the look!)

-Bake cornbread, muffins, or a cherry pie and tell your nieces and nephews the story of George Washington and the cherry tree—a great teaching moment for Savvy Aunties to segue into a discussion of morals and virtues!
