It's been a long & busy weekend in my family. My 90 year old grandmother spent another weekend in the hospital and is doing that slow fade in the last hours and days of life, but we've had a bit of baby drama too. My sister-in-law, 30 weeks pregnant, spent the night in the hospital at the same time my grandmother was in the hospital 100 miles away. Thankfully mama and baby are OK, but mama's got a pinched nerve & is not mobile anymore.
It's tough when Auntie gets a call to help and Auntie's already booked. Naturally I'd have health issues requiring attention from doctors at the same time my sister-in-law needs a doctor's appointment!
Even so, it appears that I will be pressed into service between now and Holly's arrival. It won't be hard, of course. It's something that I can do. We'll just see how long I last, as my love of children usually lasts only a couple hours at a time and then I'm ready for the parents to take over!
Saturday my sister and family slept in and were absent from church, so I went over to visit after services. Lee Lee had just awoken from her nap and although she was full of smiles to see her auntie, she seemed like she didn't feel good. She's pulling on her right ear and her drooling is at an all-time high. Not sure if she's got a tooth about to show itself or if its her ear, but she's growing so fast! She found her feet and toes last week and also how to get them into her mouth. We played lots of "pull pull pull" off the floor and she even rolled herself over a couple of times!
I also got to "meet" my nephew via skype that day. That was so exciting! I don't have a web cam, but my sisters do, and Mickie was all smiles, clapping and cooing while I talked with his mommy. Rue Rue has had a really tough week, as her daddy has gone back to work for the airlines (he's a pilot - the economy is growing; he got his job back after 18 months!) and she's not used to him being gone for days at a time. She's been having some serious melt downs and Mommy hasn't been able to console her. It's tough being a long-distance auntie!
