Books!
So my brilliant nephew Red is quite the little reader. He's in second grade, but reads at a seventh grade (!!!) level. We're having a time finding books to read. Harry Potter's a little scary for him, but he likes magical stories. He's a collector, so he likes series books in particular. His favorite books are the Avatar graphic novels.
I'm sending over my Narnia books, and am planning on reading the Eragon books (he saw the movie and is interested) to see if they would be good, but is there anything else I could recommend? He likes things with a good story, but also with some philosophy in them. Because, you know, all 7-year-olds like philosophy.
I now have more sympathy for my mom who was trying to explain allegory and imagery to me when I was about his age.
This kid is my kind of geek.
