Well, it sounds like you need to have a talk and clear things up for sure. Before that, maybe consider whether you feel you want and can handle having custody of your niece. Also, what about the other kids? Would this be a temporary situation, and would you be OK with it if it ended up being permanent? Would she give you financial support? What about visitation? Would it be a legal custody, or just an agreement between you and what would happen if you disgreed on a major parenting issue and/or had a falling-out? Clearly this isn't a decision to be taken lightly so give it some real thought - but also don't jump to any conclusions before you're fully informed.
