I think 11 is too young.

Now is the perfect time to teach her to Just Say No, Practice thinking about consequences and what SHE really wants, setting boundaries, grow her personal power. Long before she thinks she has to do things she really doesn't want or have to do to keep a boy. It much easier to say no to a kiss than unwanted oral sex in the school stairwells, yes, thats whats happenig in middle school, or straight up sex.

I think that she is way too young to be having her first real kiss

Regardless of whether people agree with it, this is what kids do. I know that I was boy-crazy from a young age but that doesn't mean I turned into a slut. (I was actually a late bloomer.) There really is a big difference between that first kiss and first REAL kiss. And even if she thinks it's a REAL kiss now, she may realize later on that it wasn't. Either way, it wouldn't hurt for your friend (or you) to start talking about these things with her daughters. She doesn't necessarily have to give them the full sex talk, she can gauge where the girls are right now as far as experience and curiousity and then go from there. And as someone else pointed out, it is important to not only prepare them for what will happen, but also to let them know that they are in control of the situation and have the right to say no to anything at any time.

Well my niece is only 7 weeks so I don't have to worry about that. But I don't think its too young to be having the talk regardless of what kind of kiss it was. I wasn't really into boys until late teens and even then I wasn't into just any boy and I didn't have a boyfriend until after high school. Maybe that seems weird but I think it was the right thing. I wanted to wait until marriage. And I will strongly want my niece to. Hopefully she will. I know her step sister is 16 and is having sex and everything. I don't know what you can do in that situation. I guess you have to teach them young and hope and pray they will listen.

My niece is 11 and going to secondary school in september, at the moment she doesn't like boys very much and is only interested in boy bands and going on her tablet. I am positive that will all change once she changes school and makes some new friends and see the older boys
