Favortism

I am an Aunt to 7 nieces and nephews and I love them all. Three are from my husband’s side of the family and four are from my side of the family. We do not have children of our own yet. My brother and I have always been close so as a result I am more involved in his two girl’s lives. I see them more often than my other nieces and nephews. I am also godmother to his oldest daughter and so she and I share a bond as a result.

My brother and his wife do not have much money; my goddaughter who is five years old has started to show interest in ballet. I told my brother and sister in law that I would fund her ballet lessons and take her to classes. They both seem keen on this idea and I think it will be very healthy for her to start an activity.

I worry that by doing this that I am also going over the top in showing favoritism or that when her little sister (who is 3) gets older that it would be expected on me to fund an activity of hers also. I am not saying that I am not willing to do the same for her little sister I am just not sure that we will be able to afford it when the time comes

Should I be worried about this? I am just wanting to do a nice thing for my goddaughter but I do not want to play favorites.
