The Top 7 Things You’ve Been Procrastinating Getting Done
Some to-dos just seem to stay on our list. There are those pesky, nagging things that are annoying to deal with, but we need to do them because it’s the kind of stuff adults have to do once in a while. We would rather do just about anything else.
It is time to take a deep breath, stop procrastinating, and get them done. That way, we don’t have to think about them for a while.
1. Get your free credit reports and check for errors. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and select your three credit reports from Experian, Transunion and Equifax. Check your report for errors and file any disputes online.
2. Draft a will and living will. This is something no one wants to think about, but it needs to be done if you want to protect your family. See a lawyer, use websites such as Legal Zoom, or use will-making software.
3. Check your beneficiary information. Add or remove beneficiaries for your retirement and insurance funds. Relationships change, and new nieces and nephews come into your life.
4. Make doctor, dentist and eye doctor appointments if you’re overdue. Prevention is a good thing, and Savvy Aunties need to practice regular self-care.
5. Shop for new auto, renters or house insurance. If you haven’t priced insurance policies in the past couple of years, take a look at the market and see what’s out there. Call your current insurance provider to see if they can offer any discounts. While you’re at it, check with your other bills and see if you can cut costs there too. Pocket any savings in your savings account.
6. Unsubscribe from e-mails, magazines and services that no longer serve you. Hit the unsubscribe button or use www.unroll.me to take those pesky emails out of your inbox. Most magazines have websites to manage or cancel your subscription. Bonus points if you delete unwanted email while you’re in the inbox.
7. Clean out your beauty products and cosmetics. Sort out the items you never used, didn’t like or has changed in texture, appearance and smell. While you’re at, clean your make-up brushes with shampoo or brush cleaner and replace anything that you know you need to finally get rid of.
When you do one of these to-dos, reward yourself. Some hot cocoa and a movie with the nieces and nephews sounds just about perfect.
