Everyone deserves a little taste of summer vacation. Even if you cannot get away for a long period of time and are unable to travel great distances, you can still enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery in your own backyard. There are hundreds of gorgeous hiking trails and campgrounds around the country that you will feel as if you have journeyed to the end of the world when in reality you only had to travel a short distance.
Hiking and camping are great ways to enjoy summertime with those you love. So, take your niece and nephew along for the fun. Hiking and camping are great activities for all ages. Just be sure that the trails are age-appropriate.
Being in the great outdoors with your niece and/or nephew is a good opportunity to connect with them in a new way. Without the distractions of technology, you can explore the world with your niece and nephew from a new perspective. You can climb mountains, pitch tents, skip rocks, and cook your own dinner while you sing songs and roast marshmallows around a blazing fire.
Remember to come prepared. Bring water, food, and all of the bear-essentials. For more tips on hiking/camping safety, especially if you are bringing your niece and nephew along, check out the Livestrong website.
But most importantly, have fun!
