A Soul Filled Auntie's Day
I remember the first time I heard about Savvy Auntie, it immediately piqued my interested. I had no idea what it was all about, but since I am an aunt, I decided to check out the website. To my amazement, I found a community of women who are empowered to celebrate their of nieces and nephews. Just what I needed since my nephew is the closest thing that I have to having my own kid.
Being single sometimes means that you may feel like a clock is ticking because by society’s standards you are suppose to have a husband and children already. Maybe you have a husband but you can not have children, which tears you up a little inside. Then there are those like me who do not plan to give birth to anyone, but would rock being a stepmom given the chance. Our situations may differ, but we are joined by the fact that we adore our nieces and nephews.
What I love about Auntie’s Day is how inclusive it is for aunts everywhere. As aunts we get to rock Aunthood anywhere that we like it. This year to celebrate the day, why not post pictures for you and your niece or nephew on Facebook? Send a tweet to let people know that you are a proud aunt. Make sure that you reach out to another aunt to celebrate the day, in fact have a Auntie’s Day brunch with your girls. Be as creative as you want to celebrate in your own way.Just know that you have a whole community of aunts behind you.
Besides celebrating, look with within your heart and soul to feel how amazing it feels to be an auntie. You were chosen to be a light in the life of your nephew or niece. How does that make you feel? Really take the time to understand that you are an influence in this child's life therefore making you very special. Savvy Auntie Day is about celebrating that connection, it is a divine connection. One that has a lasting effect on the both of you in ways that may yet to be seen. In fact you may end up being the most influential person in their life. What kid doesn't love to brag about their cool aunt?
