Review: Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bros.
I had early access to Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. So I got one of our Family Gamer TV families to test it out. What emerged was an in depth role play game accessible to a wide range of players, including young nephews and nieces with some RPG experience! Another big hit on the 3DS!
Game Review
Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. is a game that will keep you up for hours – not for school nights. It gives you a real sense of progression as you level up and unlock new areas and items. While its colorful appearance and the ability to play the battles on easy-mode means it can be friendly to younger players, it’s a solid RPG at heart.
It might have the familiar “Mario-look” and it’s definitely got all the same characters in it, but it’s not quite like New Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario 3D Land because it’s a role playing game (RPG) in the same series as games like Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story.
This game is more similar to Paper Mario – another Mario RPG. The stories follow similar themes, usually involving rescuing Princess Peach, and you solve puzzles to travel through the environment as well as battle enemies.
So, the thing about Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. is it’s clearly not aimed at the younger children who might have enjoyed New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 3D Land, but at the slightly older children and maybe even the young ones who are used to role playing games like Pokemon. It’s actually a really decent game!
