Savvy
Auntie.com is seeking an Editorial Intern to work with Notkin to manage
the website content, including articles for Expertise, Activities and
to some extent, Gifts.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinating the Editorial Calendar
•
Soliciting, reviewing and copy-editing timely, audience-appropriate
articles from the Savvy Auntie Experts and guest contributors
• Maintaining professional relationships with the Savvy Auntie Experts
• Publishing articles and updating the homepage via the content management system
•
Writing articles as necessary, especially pop culture hot topics like a
new Celeb-Auntie or other aunt-related stories in the news
•
Researching and seeking out newsworthy topics from other online media
outlets to be written up and published on SavvyAuntie.com
• Conceptualizing and pitching content ideas
• Utilizing social media
•
Updating the Gifts section (with Notkin’s close supervision and
product recommendations) and assuring that Gifts are current and
up-to-date
Skills and Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate or recent graduate
• Self-starter, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Organized, responsible and detail-oriented
• Excellent writing, editing and copy-editing skills
• Able to navigate a content management system
• Avid consumer of online content, able to research popular blogs for newsworthy content
• Strong understanding of social media and web analytics
• Commitment to excellence
• Love of children and/or being an Auntie by Relation or Auntie by Choice is a plus
Job requirements:
• 10 hours weekly (more if needed)
• Ability to work in an independent workspace or virtually from home
• Ability to start immediately
• For school credit preferred

SavvyAuntie.com Toys and Gifts Editorial Intern
Responsibilities:
The Toys and Gifts Editorial Intern is responsible for managing and
updating the toy and gift content on the Webby Award-nominated
SavvyAuntie.com, known for its popular toy and gift ideas for children
of all ages. The position reports directly to Savvy Auntie founder and
toy expert, Melanie Notkin. Notkin will support content recommendations
based on industry knowledge. The Toys and Gifts Intern will also be
responsible for discovering and recommending children's toy and gift
ideas.
The Toys and Gifts Editorial Intern is responsible for pitching and coordinating on-air TV toy guide segments as they come up.
The
Toys and Gifts Editorial Intern is responsible for coordinating the
annual Savvy Auntie Coolest Toy Awards program. This involves managing
awards program entries and results. The Savvy Auntie Coolest Toys Awards
are published in November.
Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate or recent graduate
• Self-starter, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
• Organized, responsible and detail-oriented
• Excellent writing, editing and copy-editing skills
• Able to navigate and publish within a content management system
• Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
• Avid consumer of online content
• Commitment to excellence
• Knowledge of current toys and gifts a plus
• Love of children and/or being an Auntie by Relation or Auntie by Choice is a plus
