Single and Savvy Aunties: 4 Ways to Get Romance
The last few months have been dedicated to the love you have for your niece or nephew. Between the holidays and summer, there has been a lot of energy and focus on them. You have have been ready to “Auntie Up” through all of it. Give yourself a pat on the back.
It is now time do something for you, Dear Auntie. Just because you are single, it does not mean that you cannot find some romance in your life. Did you know that August is National Romance Awareness Month? If one is single, it is probably not something circled on your calendar. After all, who likes a whole month to point out the fact that they are not getting romance by a special someone? Let’s flip the script on this so that instead of gloom and doom, you feel empowered. Here are some ways to get romance in during the Romance Month or anytime you want it.
1. Write a love letter.
One of the best ways to conjure up some love and romance is with a love letter. If you are still waiting on that special someone, you can act “as if” that person is already physically in your life by writing a love letter from them. What would be the ultimate love letter for you to receive? Write it down. Throw that love energy out into the universe. After you write this letter, keep it in a safe place. Don’t be surprised if one day the love of your life says those words to you.
2. Watch romantic movies.
Have a lazy Sunday with yourself and romance movies, complete with champagne and yummy things to snack on. Make sure you choose cheesy and fun romantic comedies with dreamy actors. Skip things like “The Way We Were” or “The Notebook.” Those movies are a bit serious and may make you feel a tad sad about being single. Instead, go for movies like “The Proposal”, “When Harry Met Sally”, or “Bridesmaids.” If you don’t feel like watching movies alone, invite your older nieces over for a girls’ night of romantic comedies and chatting about crushes.
3. Buy yourself flowers.
Flowers add a nice touch no matter where they are. Get your favorite flower so that they are around to make you smile and give a boost to your joy. Push it a bit further and have them delivered to yourself with a note about how much you rock.
4. Do some magical aromatherapy.
There are various scents that add touches of love and pleasure to your life. Did you know that roses are a symbol of love? So is their smell. Get some rose water or essential rose oil. The scent conjures up feelings of love. Some other scents that arouse romantic and love thoughts: jasmine, vanilla, and yarrow.
