Oh, fall! The air is getting crisper, the leaves are changing colors, and the nieces and nephews in your life are back at school. But for Aunties TTC, or with sisters or friends who are TTC, fall might mean tougher access to your favorite super nutritious, fertility-boosting foods like berries and summer squash. But fear not! There are tons of delectable autumn foods that are great additions to any conception-conscious diet.
Ginger
Ginger is known to help improve circulation, nutrient absorption, and egg health, and can help manage certain conditions like endometriosis and uterine fibroids. So working it into a stack of pancakes is a delicious way to boost your fertility health. Pancakes are always a kid-favorite, so try making some the next time you have nieces and nephews over for breakfast. They’ll love the ginger kick, and if you serve them with scrambled eggs and a cup of berries, you’re giving the kids a hearty meal for a fresh start to the day while adding antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids to the conception-conducive gang.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are packed with nutrients like Vitamin A, recognized to help improve cervical fluid quality and follicle development, B Vitamins to help facilitate hormone production and keep your cycle as regular as possible, and are a great source of complex carbohydrates to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
Butternut Squash
A scrumptious salad that combines this old-autumn stand-by with folic acid heavyweights quinoa (the hottest thing on the fertility-boosting block) and orange juice is perfect for a light fall dinner. Squash is loaded with Vitamin A to help regulate your menstrual cycle, and Vitamin C to keep your immune system strong, while the folic acid from quinoa is proven to help women produce healthier eggs. While your nieces and nephews might prefer delivery pizza to squash and quinoa (unless they’re junior foodies!), preparing such a dish could be a fun culinary activity to do together!
