At the launch of Jessica Simpson Girls, the Celeb-Auntie’s new clothing line for tween girls at New York City’s Dylan’s Candy Bar, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jessica Simpson who is expecting her first child early next year.

The line, produced by the Camuto Group for Jones New York, is what the Simpson sisters call the perfect ‘combination of their two extremely different personalities and very different fashion styles.’ Mom-to-be Jessica is the girly-girl while DebutAunt-to-be Ashlee, mom to Jessica’s nephew Bronx Mowgli, brings a rocker edge to the line. Jessica admits she hopes the styles, co-creatively designed by the singers, will make the tween girls who wear them look like the “cool kids in school.”

With faux-fur vests and skinny jeans and the tween fashioNiecetas who wear them, the latest apparel launch in the Jessica Simpson Collection is expected to bring in around $20 million in retail sales for 2012. The entire Jessica Simpson Collection is expected to reach the $1 billion mark for total overall sales since its launch by the end of next year as well, Women’s Wear Daily reported back in June.

No doubt, Jessica is a savvy business woman and a Savvy Auntie. But now that Jessica is about to become a mom, I had to ask if she thinks Ashlee will be a Savvy Auntie too. “Ashlee is an awesome mom so I can’t imagine her not being a good aunt,” Simpson told me. “She’s going to be an awesome aunt!” One thing Auntie Jessica has learned over the last couple of years? “The best part about being an aunt is when they cry you can pass them off (she laughs) and you can give them all the candy you want and send them home!”

No wonder Bronx was seen in Auntie Jessica’s arms the day of her trip to Dylan’s Candy Bar.
