April is National Kite Month, co-founded by the American Kitefliers Association and the Kite Trade Association International to promote and support kiting. Kiting events are held worldwide to introduce people to this activity, educate people about the history of kites, help people gain an appreciation for the artistry of kitemakers, and introduce kites as educational tools for kids.
You can buy a kite or, better yet, DIY a kite to get in on the fun. You don’t have to be a master kite-maker in order to make a kite to fly with nieces and nephews. In fact, a DIY kite is the perfect activity to do together. All you need are a few inexpensive materials. My Best Kite is a website dedicated to kite making and tips for flying kites where you’ll find step-by-step instructions for making all sorts of of kites from “simple kites,” to “better kites,” and even kites “for small kids.”
