At her sold-out show last Saturday, August 15, Taylor Swift (Aunt-T to us!) gave a shoutout to her new godson, Leo Thames, second child of one of her close friends, Jaime King. The CelebAuntie says her older hit, “Never Grow Up,” took on a new meaning after meeting little Leo for the first time.
"I wrote it when I was like 18 or 19, but my friend just had a baby and she made me godmother of it and I was holding this little baby the other night, and I was just thinking differently," she said. "When you're holding onto something that's so innocent and so perfect and has no idea what's coming for it with the world. The world is going to throw so many things at you as we grow up."
In response, Leo’s mom tweeted, thanking Swift for the beautiful performance.
It's probably no surprise to Jaime King that Aunt-T Swift is already celebrating her godmotherhood. When asked why she chose Taylor Swift to be her newborn's godmom, King told
E! News: "I always thought if I were to have another child that she would be the ideal godmother because the way she not only treats me but the way she treats other human beings. She's so loving and so giving and so generous and she does everything from her heart and she's incredibly brave and authentic. It's a very rare thing to come across."
It seems Jaime King made a very savvy choice naming Taylor Swift as godmom to Leo even before he was born, adding: "I know that [our baby] will always have a very good person and role model through her."
