When a niece or nephew is sick or injured in your care, it can sometimes be difficult to determine if the child needs emergency medical attention, a doctor’s visit, or some home-based care. If it’s not an emergency, the cost of the visit may not warrant the trip to the hospital. But we also know it’s better to be safe than sorry.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health have issued a Tip Sheet on how to best to decide when to go to the emergency room. Since the information is critical to a child’s health, we are linking directly to the list at Medline Plus.
