Have a Soul-Filled Summer (with Kids!)
The summer solstice just officially kicked off the beginning of summer season. During this period, there is a big planetary influence from the moon. That means its going to be an emotional time. Fear not, Savvy Auntourage, because it is a magickal to time to do something nice for your spirit. When you give your spirit some love, it will help you align with your goals and dreams. This bit of self-love is one of the best ways to attract more love in your life.
Here is a list of things that you can do to have a soul-filled summer:
1. Mix meditation into your life: I bet some of you are wondering when you would have time to meditate. Being a Savvy Auntie on the go means juggling everything from the good, the bad and the ugly. You do not have to meditate for an hour or even thirty minutes. Do not let a lack of time get in your way. Meditating for about 10-15 minutes a day will do wonders for you. If you have that kind of time to dedicate to a longer meditation practice, go for it. Studies show that people who meditate are happier and healthier.
2. Have plants and flowers around you: Spend some time with your nieces and nephews together in a garden. Go to your local botanical gardens. Plant your favorite vegetables or flowers. Not only is this relaxing, but also kids really dig planting things that they can watch grow. I recommend urban gardening if you live in an apartment, you can still grow some great things on your fire escape or your windowsill. Each week, have fresh flowers in your home; flowers provide an abundance of positive power.
3. Have a high-tea party: Take time to hang out with your friends and yaysayers. A tea party is a lovely way to slow down and connect with people that you love. Who doesn't tiny finger sandwiches, sweets, and tea? If you want to make the party nephew-and-niece-friendly, have an Alice-and-Wonderland-themed party. The kids and the adults can dress up as their favorite characters from the book. At the party you can do a reading from the book. It will be a fAuntastic time.
4. Go on a self-love getaway: You don't have to go to another country to get away. Most areas have a fabulous retreat center or bed-and-breakfast. Block off a weekend to get out of town and do your own thing. It's a good way to get centered and have some quality "me time.” Whether you go to the woods or a spa, it's always a good move to spend a little time with yourself. Check in with yourself. Listen to what your heart and soul has to say.
