With the new school year in full swing, it may be time for a fun baking session with your favorite niece or nephew. Kids will love helping you make this delicious twist on the traditional apple for their new teacher or for their favorite Auntie.
Yields 3 Apple Crisps
Ingredients
3 Honey Crisp Apples
1/3 Cup Flour
3/4 Cup Oats
1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 Tsp. Cinnamon
Dash Nutmeg
1/3 Cup Butter (melted)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
1. Cut top off apple and use a spoon to hollow out the apple.
2. Fill emptied apple with extra apple scraps (discarding seeds), leaving about 1/2 inch room for crisp on top.
3. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Spoon on top of apple scraps, using just enough to fill the hollowed apple.
4. Place apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 35 minutes.

For a cute packaging idea, buy a wide mouth mug and place your apple crisp in it. Attach a note with twine to the handle and let your nieces and nephews wow their teachers!
